Summary

An earthwork bank, identified during a site visit and visible on imagery from a 2015 lidar survey, is likely to be of medieval to post-medieval date. It perhaps relates to the southern boundary of Santon warren (NHER 54065). It may also be associated with some of the features recorded as part of NHER 62073.

Full description

August 2014. Breaking New Ground field visit. HA 22.
An earthwork bank, visible in places beneath dense bracken. Up to 4m wide and up to 0.2m high.
This bank is located close to the southern edge of Santon Warren (NHER 54065). As a result, it may have been created to define the boundary of the warren.

The undated bank described above is visible as an earthwork on imagery from a lidar survey (S1) [1]. It may be of medieval to post-medieval date, and mark the southern boundary of Santon warren (NHER 54065). It may also be associated with some of the features recorded as part of NHER 62073.
