Full description

April 2014. Rapid Identification Survey. HA 110.
A linear pond in Lynford Park (NHER 30470). It measures about 85m long by up to 10.5m by 1.4m deep.
It is shown on (S1), but not the earlier map in (S2).
The pond may have been excavated to serve as an ornamental pond in the gardens of the 18th century Lynford Hall (NHER 5138). The University of East Anglia has suggested it might have been one of the 'canals' mentioned by Blomefield in the early 19th century.
