Summary

Iron Age to post medieval pottery, a Roman brooch, Early Saxon personal ornaments, a Middle Saxon coin and medieval strap fittings have been found at this site by metal detecting. These finds are indicative of a Middle Saxon settlement site, part of a larger settlement and Early Saxon inhumation and cremation cemetery complex.

A rim sherd of ?Grimston Thetford bowl with rouletted interlace on top of rim, (S2).

Four coins;
Radiate coin 270-280s:
VRBS ROMA wolf and twins 330-40.
Antoninianus of Claudius II commemorative AD 270.
Coin probably Magnentius, 351-3, VICTORIAE DD NN AVG ET CAE

Two Roman coins totally illegible.
Roman dolphin brooch, linear decoration, 5cm long x4.5cm wide.

February 1995.
Fifteen body sherds in sandy, coarse sandy and finely gritted fabrics, predominantly reduced. Probably Iron Age, although an Early Saxon element may be present.
One body sherd Roman greyware.
Three body sherds medieval unglazed.
One simple bowl rim, hand-made, sandy, probably early medieval.
