Name:Roman and medieval coins and medieval strap end


Nine Roman coins, a medieval strap end and a medieval coin of John the Fearless, Duke of Burgundy as Count of Flanders minted between 1405 and 1419 were found here by metal detecting. These finds are part of a larger Roman to Late Saxon settlement and Early Saxon cemetery complex.

AE3 of Constantine I, reverse BEATA TRANQVILLITAS with altar VOTXX. See (S2)
AE3 Valens, reverse SECVRITAS REIPVBLICAE, Victory advance L. See (S3).
Gratian, DN GRATIANVS AVG reverse GLORIA NOVI SAECVLI 367-75 AD, Arles mint (I.D. A. Gregory (NAU)).
Two Roman coins illegible.

Late medieval? strap end, very small, copper alloy, repousse.
