A long stretch of World War Two beach scaffolding and a barbed wire obstruction is visible on 1944 aerial photographs. The scaffolding defended both Old Hunstanton and Holme next the Sea.

Full description

January 2001. NMP.
Length of scaffolding running along this section of coast, with some sections located in the inter-tidal zone. Visible on 1944 aerial photographs (S1). Part of the World War Two coastal defences in this part of the country. Scaffolding runs from TF 6792 4242 to TF 6991 4410, crossing into Holme next the Sea parish. A length of barbed wire obstruction runs from the end of the scaffolding at TF 6991 4410 to TF 6983 4395, completeing this section of beach defence.
