Name:Possible Early Saxon inhumation cemetery and multi-period finds

Summary

Finds recovered during metal-detecting at this location between 1995 and 2022 suggest the presence of at least one Early Saxon inhumation. Finds of this date include brooches, a buckle, strap end and very important pyramidal sword mount. Other objects recovered include Neolithic flint artefacts; Roman pottery sherds; Late Iron Age/Roman (Roman issue), Roman and medieval coins and a number of other metal objects, including a Roman brooch and lead steelyard weight; a medieval chafing dish fragment and copper alloy ewer fragment; a medieval/post-medieval chafing dish fragment and a post-medieval buckle, a button, end cap from knife, crotal bell, sword-belt mount and lead cloth seal.
