Summary

An archaeological watching brief carried out during construction of a new water main recorded a 4th century AD Roman coin and medieval and post medieval buckles. Pieces of Roman and medieval pot were also found. Metal detecting recovered finds dating from the Iron Age to the post medieval period. These include an Iron Age or Roman vessel mount in the form of a bull's head, Roman brooches, a medieval or post medieval thimble and an undated lead weight. Four Roman and one Iron Age coin were also detected.

Full description

1992. Fieldwalking and Metal-detector Survey and Watching Brief.
Marham/Stow Bridge Pipeline.
Initial field survey of pipeline route followed by monitoring of topsoil stripping and excavation of pipe trench.
Roman sherds and 4th century coin.
Medieval and post medieval buckles. Medieval sherd.
