Summary

In 1974 an incomplete Early Saxon cruciform brooch was found by chance at this location. Subsequent metal-detecting between 2023 and 2024 recovered Roman and medieval coins and a number of additional metal objects, including a Roman brooch; an Early Saxon brooch; a medieval buckle, brooch, key and horse-harness pendant; a medieval/post-medieval copper alloy ring and a post-medieval buckle.

1974. Stray Find.
Found on ploughed surface:
Head and bow of Early Saxon cruciform brooch.
See (S1) in NCM [1].
Compiled by E. Rose (NLA). Information from record cards (S2) and (S3).
This discovery was reported in (S4).

Early Saxon disc brooch.
1 medieval coin, a buckle, annular brooch, key (probably for casket) and horse-harness pendant.
Medieval/post-medieval copper alloy ring.
Post-medieval buckle.
