Full description

Drainage mill.
E. Rose (NAU).

Listed as 'Langley No.3' though called by (S1) 'Limpenhoe Marsh'.

Mid 19th century. Derelict. Brick tower, remains of weatherboarded cap. Tapering tower of four storeys. Doors to north and south ground floor. Window on first floor, two on cap floor with rounded arches. Cap frame with sheers, tail beam, sprattle beam, headstock and weatherbeam. Complete set of truck wheels and centering wheels, worm and worm hangars. Cast iron windshaft, brake collar, wooden upright shaft with cast iron wallower, crown wheels and pit wheel. Horizontal drive shaft to exterior scoop wheel. Casting by W. England dated 1895.

According to (S2) this is the only surviving drainage mill built by William Thorold, in 1831.

In 1992 there was a plan to take the mill on as a potential private restoration project. At this time all machinery was accounted for and intact and the only work required was the replacement of the cap and sails.
