Full description

May to June 1999. Metal-detecting. [1].
Medieval buckle, with rectangular frame and remains of bronze pin and rectangular plate. The frame has a thickened and bevelled outer edge with grooved pin rest; there is a transverse moulding on each of the top and bottom sides just beyond the junction with the outer edge. The bar is offset and narrowed. The pin is made from copper alloy strip and only the loop survives. The plate is broken at the hinge, and has a pin slot but no frame recesses. It tapers slightly and must be incomplete, as no rivet hole survives.
Early post-medieval jetton issued in Nuremberg by Hans Krauwinckel (working 1586-1635). Obverse: rose with 3 crowns and 3 lis around, *HANNS KRAVWINCKEL IN NVR. Reverse: orb in tressure, *GOTES SEGEN MACHET REICH (God's Blessing Makes Rich). See (S1).
