Summary

Fieldwalking and metal detecting at this site have recovered a scatter of Roman to post medieval pottery and metalwork including Early Saxon brooches and fragments of brooches and other personal ornaments. These finds are indicative of an Early to Middle Saxon settlement site, part of a larger settlement and cemetery complex.

1964.
Post medieval finds.

1981. Systematic Fieldwalking Survey.
Gridded fieldwalking in western part of field, including all of the area covered by this record.
Prehistoric worked flints, many Middle Saxon, medieval and post-medieval pottery sherds and undated brick, tile and slag fragments.
