Name:Prehistoric flints, multi-period pottery sherds and coins

Summary

Fieldwalking here in 1998 recovered sherds of Roman, medieval and post-medieval pottery along with several prehistoric flints. Subsequent metal-detecting in 2006 retrieved Roman and medieval coins, including a possible unstruck coin blank. Metal-detecting in 2009 recovered further artefacts including Roman and medieval coins, Early Saxon/Middle Saxon, Middle Saxon/Late Saxon and post-medieval metal objects.

The Early/Middle Saxon pendant and the Middle/Late Saxon silver hooked tag were both submitted as potential Treasure (Treasure cases 2009 T610 and 2009 T609 respectively) and the pendant was subsequently acquired by Norwich Castle Museum (NWHCM : 2010.140).
