Summary

Metal-detecting between 1997 and 2015 recovered a huge number of artefacts and coins. Finds included a Byzantine coin, a Late Saxon strap end, a medieval strap end in the form of a tree, a post medieval seal matrix, a Bronze Age axehead and post medieval jettons. Fieldwalking in the same area in 2006 retrieved prehistoric worked flints along with sherds of Late Saxon, medieval and post medieval pottery.

1997. Metal detecting. Field searched by group of American metal detectorists on holiday organised by [1].
Five Roman coins.
Eight medieval and post medieval coins.

Aethelred II penny, 978-1016, long cross type. Norwich mint.

November 1998. Metal detecting.
Medieval strap end in the form of a tree with trunk and branches represented by openwork terminal and roots represented by the crescentic cast front plate which has engraved detail. In the "loop" of the crescent is an openwork bird, head down and at an angle. Unusual style. Backplate missing.
