Full description
Rare Alan Williams turret, date 1940.
Survey No. D1-10.
Information from [1]. See (S1) in file.
D. Walker (NLA) July 1996.
March 2003. Norfolk NMP.
The remains of a World War II Allan-Williams turret can just be determined on OS aerial photographs from 1969 (S2). It is not visible on RAF 1946 aerial photographs due to tree cover. It has previously been recorded under the Norfolk defensive structures survey (D1-10); which shows it to be rare, dating to 1940 and in good condition.
H. Clare (NMP), 13 August 2003.
The remains of this turret are in the car park for the Bayfield Wild Flower centre. It is in very poor condition. The dome or cupola projects out of the ground and is very rusty; the door is missing; the interior is full of rubbish and water.
E. Rose (NLA), 10 April 2007.
