Name:Neolithic polished axehead and Roman to post-medieval finds

Summary

In 1990 a Neolithic polished flint axehead was found at this location. Subsequent metal-detecting and fieldwalking between 2013 and 2024 recovered medieval coins and a number of other metal objects, including a lead spindle whorl of Roman to medieval date, a medieval/post-medieval probable strap fitting and a post-medieval crotal bell and possible lead seal.

November 1990. Stray Find.
Surface find at [1]:
Thin butted polished Neolithic axe in grey flint, some ancient damage on cutting edge. Length 133mm, width 66mm thickness 30mm.

Survey of proposed route of Dudgeon Offshore Windfarm onshore cable (Field 31).
Finds recovered at this location included:
1 Roman to medieval lead spindle whorl.
1 post-medieval lead ?seal.
