A Neolithic polished stone axehead was found next to a fossil tree stump on the beach in 1981. Also in the area were prehistoric burnt flints and later post Iron Age pits.

24 February 1981. On beach.
Neolithic polished stone axe found upright in clay beside preserved tree.
Pot boilers associated.
Post-Iron Age rectangular pits in section.
Investigated by A. Lawson and P. Murphy (NAU).
