Summary
A World War Two USAAF Liberator bomber crashed here in 1944, killing its crew of nine. Enthusiasts excavating the remains of the aircraft in 1979 were startled to discover it still contained its load of twelve five hundred pound bombs. These were exploded by a bomb disposal group from RAF Wittering.

Full description
October 1979.
Aircraft remains excavated.
Liberator (B 24), from Attlebridge, 466th Bomb group; crashed at 06.55 hours, after take off, on 12 July 1944.
All the crew were killed.
Bomb load discovered, exploded by Bomb Disposal Group.
