Summary

An excavation before 1952 revealed Roman pits and floor surfaces, as well as Roman pottery and tiles. Metal detecting has recovered a Late Bronze Age socketed axehead, Roman coins and metal finds, and medieval and post medieval coins and metal finds.

Full description

Before February 21 1952.
Roman pottery, tiles, hut floors of 'red chalk and clay', refuse pits, and oyster shells, found in field northwest of Horsewell Farm (renamed Heacham Bottom Farm 1964).
Trial excavation.
Pottery of both 2nd and 3rd centuries, mainly latter including Samian F37 and either F18 or 18/31 stamped (? = Crassus of La Graufesenque).
