Enclosure has old pit within top left hand corner but this is probably fortuitous.
Clearly predates park layout of woods.
Grid reference corrected from that previously given and outline marked on map.

The sub-rectangular enclosure of unknown date mentioned above is visible as a cropmark on aerial photographs (S1), along with a rather ephemeral curvilinear feature to the north which may be a geological feature. The enclosure is centred on TL 9048 8516 and measures 156m by 167m internally, 168m by 181m externally. It does not appear to be complete, although it is difficult to be certain due to the poor quality of the photographic frame, and the fact that it is not visible in stereo. The possible curvilinear feature to the north, which may represent a ring ditch, centred on TL 9053 8531 is also not wholly visible, and is of rather dubious archaeological origin.
