Summary

Fieldwalking and metal detecting from 1976 onwards have recovered a large quantity of Roman objects, including coins, brooches, pottery fragments and bricks. The scatter of these objects indicates the possible site of one or more Roman buildings, and aerial photographs have also indicated the marks of structures. Medieval and post medieval objects have also been found.

March 1976.
Cropmark of possible buildings shown on air photographs.
Fieldwalking finds. Roman coin, lead spindle whorl, slag, kiln bricks.

Early 1984. Metal detecting. Roman coins, metalwork, post medieval lead disc.
1984-1985. Metal detecting. Roman coins.

March 1987. Metal detecting. Roman coins, pottery, brick. Medieval coins.
December 1987. Metal detecting. Roman coins, brick, bronze bowl, bronze statuette, belt buckle (S1), bronze figurine. Late Bronze Age sword hilt fragment (S2).
1989. Metal detecting. Roman coins, brooches, bronze buckle, spatula, metalwork, iron pins, Roman pottery. Iron Age/Roman bronze pole tip or mount (vehicle fitting).
