Summary

A linear feature of unknown date is visible as a cropmark on aerial photographs, although its exact origin is uncertain. Roman brooches and coins, which may suggest that this was an area of Roman settlement, Early Saxon brooches, pottery and other Early Saxon metalwork, Middle Saxon coins, brooches and pottery, a Late Saxon ring and strap end, and medieval brooches, buckles, coins, a lead stylus, pottery and other metalwork and post medieval coins and metalwork, found by metal detecting.

Set aside; from the odd bare patch in north part:
1 body sherd thick reduced hard sandy, ?Middle Saxon or ?Early Saxon.
2 medieval unglazed and 1 glazed Grimston body sherd.

NAU air photography shows a most odd winding feature across north side of field, resembling a mark made by pouring chemical onto the crop, yet abutting present road hedge at each end.
Suggested by D. Edwards (NLA) as an older road course.
