Name:Roman pit containing kiln debris and an undated pit

Summary

Two pits were found in the early 1990s during a watching brief on the line of the Norwich Southern Bypass. One contained a lot of Roman pottery sherds and debris from a pottery kiln, suggesting that a kiln may have been located nearby. The second pit contained evidence for burning and no dating evidence, although it may have been prehistoric in date.

Possible Prehistoric pit.

The kiln waste and pottery in the Roman pit suggests that a pottery kiln may have been located nearby.
