April 2006.
The discovery of Roman artefacts on the site suggests that the enclosures could be of Roman date. If so they could have been associated with the small town/village site located to the northwest (NHER 4079). See NHER 13042 for details of the finds.
D. Robertson (NLA), 3 April 2006. Amended by A. Beckham (HES), 17 October 2014.

March 2024. Wendling Beck and Fransham Aerial Investigation and Mapping (AIM) Project.
The cropmarks of a large rectangular enclosure of an unknown date are visble on aerial photographs (S1-S10). Linear ditches are visible within the interior of the enclosure which may relate to internal boundaries or possibly to a further smaller rectangular enclosure. The enclosure may be cut or cut by a possible field boundary (NHER 68096) of an unknown date, in the west of the area (centred at TF 8797 1659). The large collection of Roman finds recovered from this site (NHER 13042) and to the west (NHER 4079 and 61822), in addition to the proximity (approximately 50m) of the feature to the proposed aliment of a Roman road (NHER 2796) to the north, may suggest a likely Roman date for the features.
J. Powell (Norfolk Historic Environment Service), 19 March 2024.
