Full description

June 2009. Norfolk NMP.
A possible greyhound racing circuit is visible as an oval mark of fence lines on aerial photographs (S1), on land between Thorpe Road and the river Yare, centred at TG 2531 0830. The track is oval in plan and measures 191m by 90m externally, 177m by 76m internally, the track itself being 7m wide. A straight section of track approximately 125m in length extends from the south-western corner.
A specialised track, affiliated to the National Greyhound Racing Society was recorded as being opened at the Boundary Park Stadium 1932 (S2), but there does not appear to be a record of a track at this location.
E. Bales (NMP), 02 June 2009.

According to (S3), this track opened on 17 June 1933, a year after the Firs and Boundary Park, becoming the third of Norwich's four tracks. It was used for greyhound racing in the summer then manually flooded and used for ice skating in winter. Information from (S3) provided by [1]. Source not seen.
A. Yardy (HES), 08 August 2014.
