Full description

November 2002 - January 2003. Geophysical and fieldwalking survey. Bacton to King's Lynn Transco pipeline. Construction section 47, plot number 34.
Geophysical survey identified a possible occupation site consisting of a cluster of pit-like anomalies and/or areas of burning associated with a particularly high susceptibility reading.

Fieldwalking recovered burnt flints, a worked flint; Roman medieval and post medieval pottery; medieval and post medieval building material; and post medieval bottle glass and a rumbler bell.
See (S1) and (S2).
J. Allen (NLA), 8 August 2007.

March - August 2003. Excavation. Bacton to King's Lynn Pipeline.
Excavation revealed Neolithic or Iron Age pits and a ditch.
A rectilinear pattern of possibly medieval ditches is likely to be the remains of a field system.
Medieval features include a narrow ditch associated with a large concentration of pits, a hearth, and two lines of post holes, and late medieval ditches and a number of large pits.
See (S3).
J. Allen (NLA), 25 August 2006.
