Full description

Before 22 October 2003. Metal detecting, in an isolated area without other metal finds:
Roman sprung dolphin brooch, pin, spring, point of rear hook and most of catchplate missing. In both angles between wings and top of bow a knurled rib angled towards the springing of the rear hook. A slightly raised triangular moulding on one wing (left as viewed from above), base towards centre, apex more than halfway to the end. Only slight traces remain on the other wing. Knurled median rib on bow. Foot narrows to a rounded point. Wingspan 20.5mm, length 42mm. Date about 40 to 65AD.
