Full description
CAUSEWAYED RING DITCH IS NOW RECORDED UNDER 57881. THIS NUMBER NOW APPLIES TO LINEARS AND POSSIBLE FEATURES.
15 July 1996. NLA aerial photography. NGR amended from that below.
Cropmark of large causewayed ring ditch, located at TG 2194 2694.
Two of the causeways appear to be opposed giving it a hengiform appearance.
A fairly regular series of field boundaries traverse the field diagonally. These may be post medieval in date.
S. Massey (NLA) 18 October 2001.
19 July 1996. NLA aerial photography. Area centred TG 2186 2690.
Very clear circular enclosure with single narrow causeway/entrance.
Additional anomalies in this field may be archaeological in origin.
M. Brennand (NLA) 9 May 2001.
June 2022. Aylsham and Brampton Aerial Investigation and Mapping (AIM) Project.
A series of probable post medieval field boundaries (see above) can be seen as cropmarks on aerial photographs (S1-S6). One of the boundaries in the east of the record crosses the cropmarks of a possible Bronze Age ring ditch (NHER 57881). The boundaries are not seen on the readily available historic maps (such as S7)
