Summary
In the late 19th century a round barrow was recorded at this approximate location. A number of inhumations and a pot of Bronze Age, Iron Age or Early Saxon date were discovered. There are reports that the barrow was destroyed during gravel quarrying, although it may survive as a cropmark (recorded as NHER 11755).

Full description
About 1886/pre 1889.
Barrow, in which was found an earthen jar and bodies with feet to centre.
Grid reference suggested by R. R. Clarke (NCM) is almost certainly not accurate. He suggested that it was perhaps destroyed by gravel pits at TF 746 176. But this pit is marked on 1843 tithe map (S1), so this cannot be correct. Cropmark NHER 11755 could be the site.

E. Rose (NAU), 1 July 1981.
(S2) from 1889 says mound was destroyed 'only a few years ago' and mentions a sestertius of Hadrian found nearby.
