Survey work in 1996 noted a Type 23b pill box, probably built in 1940, on this site. This is thought to be the only one of this type outside Lincolnshire, and has wood shuttering and a high quality concrete finish.

Type 23b pillbox, probably built 1940. [1]
Only one of this type outside Lincolnshire. Wood shuttering, high quality concrete finsih. No light anti-aircraft mounting present.
