Full description
1961. Stray Find.
Found during ploughing:
1 prehistoric perforated stone macehead (?quartzite). See sketch (S1). Donated to Norwich Castle Museum (NWHCM : 1961.159; originally recorded as being from Bawdeswell). Information from (S2).
This discovery was reported in (S3) and (although originally recorded as Neolithic or Bronze Age) is listed as a pebble macehead in (S4). These objects are however generally not seen as closely datable, having been found in both Mesolithic and later prehistoric contexts.
