Summary
This moated site includes an outer enclosure and possible fishponds. It is thought to have been the manor of John de Sane, and is first referred to as Lyng Hall in 1359. A site visit in 1993 recorded that the moated enclosure was still excellently preserved, with a bank 2-2.5m high along the east side.

Moated site in Lynghall Wood.
April 1933.
R. R. Clarke (NCM) visited site and corrected (S1), hampered by vegetation.
1973.
Corrected plan by Ordance Survey in file, shows outer enclosure and possible fishponds.
(S2) refers to it as Manor of John de Sane, first called Lyng Hall in 1359. Founded in the time of Henry III.
Ordnance Survey states excellently preserved in 1973.
