Name:Late Saxon, medieval and post medieval finds


Sporadic metal-detecting between 1988 and 2014 recovered medieval and post-medieval coins; post-medieval jettons and a token and Late Saxon to post-medieval metal objects. The metal finds include a Late Saxon stirrup-strap mount; medieval to post-medieval dress accessories; medieval harness pendants and a copper alloy ring and a post-medieval furniture fitting, spur fragment and the arm from a pair of nut crackers.

Full description

1988 or before. Metal detecting. [1]
Bronze buckle 13th century?
Bronze buckle 13th century with cast foliage decoration on frame and plate, latter with trefoil end.
Bronze ring not ring brooch, possibly binding ring with attachment loop, medieval ?
Short cross cut halfpenny in name of Henry, possibly Henry III, reverse illegible, Moneyer RON.
Penny of Henry VI 1422-7 annulets by neck, reverse depicting annulets in two quarters, legend VILLA CAL(ESIE) Calais.
Post medieval bronze spur arm fragment decorated.
Bronze nutcrackers arm fragment decorated.
French jetton 16th century Nuremberg reverse ?
French jetton probably 16th century obverse, for comparison see Barnard 100 (S1).
Hans Krauwinckel jetton 1580-1610.
