A Tollhouse is shown on this site on Bryant's map of 1826. The current building dates from around this time, and is of whitewashed brick with a slate roof. It has a central half-hexagonal bay with a hipped roof that protrudes into the road, with two-light Y-tracery Gothick casements.

Tollbar marked on 1836 1st edition 1 inch Ordnance Survey (S1).
Has half-hexagonal bay protruding into road, with Gothick windows.

Toll Bar House, Magdalen High Street.
Tollhouse, now private. Around 1830. Whitewashed brick with slate roof. One storey. Central demi-hexagonal bay with hipped roof: arched door in centre, canted sides with two-light Y traceried Gothick casements. One bay either side with one similar casement each. Hipped roof with two symmetrical ridge stacks.
