Summary
The Crown Inn probably began life as two late medieval timber framed two storey, two cell buildings, each with ornate queenpost roofs. The two may have been joined together to form an inn around 1600, when an attic floor was inserted and alterations took place. Structural failure led to remedies in the 19th century, and the building was much altered around 1977.
