Summary
The first impression of St Margaret is the stunning octagonal tower. On closer inspection, the tower is in fact round on the inside and is likely to have been Norman in date before gaining a 13th century octagonal skin. In the 15th century the battlements and flushwork panelling were added, and the top stage has tall lancet bell-openings, flanked by blank lancets to great effect.
Inside the two nave doorways seem likely to have been originally Norman in date, and in the west wall there are two strange Norman windows through to the tower. The chancel dates to the 13th century, and has two lancets to the north and south and a four-light east window. The nave has various Perpendicular style windows and porch, and a 15th century font with a 17th century font cover.
