Summary

A 17th century timber framed farmhouse with later alterations. The house was refronted in brick in the 19th century and was in used as a farm building until a recent restoration restored it to residential use. During the restoration the brick frontage was removed, revealed panels of pargetting. The house stands within the partial remains of a medieval moat.

Full description

Fragment of moated site, surrounding timber framed house. House is probably a servants' building, one two-storey bay of living quarters with gable stack, one open bay ?for animals. Later extended beyond stack. First phase early 17th century, second about 1700.
Clad in brick in 19th century.

Visited by E. Rose (NAU) 20 July 1978 and part survey September 1990.

November 2000. Visit.
West arm still survives, water filled. Owners say this used to project further south by approx 10 metres.
