4 September 1980. Visit.
Moat is rectangular; ditches deep, medium width, dry at time of visit but obviously sometimes contains water. East ditch narrow, probably from recent infilling. Island raised wooded, some trees very old.
Causeway at northeast corner.
Raised platform in pasture to east and south may only be due to spreading dredgings over field.

September 1999. Visit.
Whole site fenced. Platform approximately 58 to 60 metres square. Ditches mostly water filled, some 4 metres wide, expanding to 10 metres at southwest corner. Covered in mature trees (very old pollarded oak). Many on bank leaning towards moat. Much scrub and dead wood throughout.
H. Paterson (A&E), 20 October 1999.
