Summary

This is the site of the medieval settlement of Glorestorp, mentioned in the Domesday Book. In the 14th century the settlement is recorded as having a manor house and two watermills. A post medieval brick house that stood on the site was demolished in 1975.

Full description

Preserves name of Glorestorp (in Domesday Book and Nomina Villarum)
Note by R.R. Clarke (NCM).

In 1320 a manor house (on this site?), 100 acres of common arable, 12 acres meadow, 8 of pasture, 4 acres of illegible, and 2 watermills were noted in Glorestorp.
Information from (S1).

The house has now been demolished. Described as 'a lovely old brick house', it was pulled down in about 1975 by owner and even the foundations rooted out. Site now a carbreakers yard.

The cropmarks recorded as NHER 16291 may mark the larger extent of the deserted medieval village of Glorestorp.
