Name:Roman building and hypocaust

Summary

A large amount of Roman brick, tile, and other building material has been ploughed up and found by fieldwalking on this site, suggesting the presence of a Roman building with a hypocaust. Roman pottery and coins, part of a Late Saxon bridle and post medieval pottery have been found during metal detecting.

1962.
Roman coin found in garden.

1964.
Scatter of Roman sherds and iron slag.

1968.
Traces of Roman building ploughed

1981 to 1982.
Fieldwalking produced Roman building material.

1984.
Fieldwalking revealed further traces of building perhaps including hypocaust.
