Summary

Metal-detecting between 1994 and 1996 recovered a ?Mesolithic/Early Neolithic flint blade; Bronze Age, Iron Age, Roman, Middle Saxon, Late Saxon and medieval pottery; Roman and medieval coins and a number of other Late Saxon to post-medieval metal objects. The metal items include a Late Saxon box hasp; a Late Saxon/medieval barrel padlock; medieval dress accessories, bell and enamelled harness stud and a post-medieval buckle.

Full description

1994 to 1996. Metal-detecting.
1 ?Mesolithic/Early Neolithic flint blade.
1 Bronze Age pottery sherd (?food vessel - v-shaped impression possibly made with bird bone) (S1).
2 Iron Age pottery sherds.
5 Roman coins and 10 pottery sherds.
2 Middle Saxon pottery sherds (pimply Ipswich ware).
5 Late Saxon pottery sherds (Thetford-type ware) and 1 box hasp.
1 Late Saxon/medieval barrel padlock
2 medieval coins, 53 pottery sherds (5 unglazed Grimston, 19 unglazed, 28 glazed Grimston, 1 glazed Scarborough), 8 buckles, 2 strap-ends, 1 vessel sheet fragment, 2 'paperclip' vessel repairs, bell with white metal coating and 1 harness stud with arms of England in enamel. 2 ?medieval weights/spindle-whorls.
1 medieval/post-medieval copper alloy ring.
1 post-medieval buckle.
