Summary

Metal-detecting at this site between 1993 and 2011 recovered a large number of finds dating from the prehistoric to the post-medieval period. Finds include prehistoric worked flint including a flint flake, Neolithic scraper, the tip of a Late Neolithic polished axehead and burnt flint; Roman, medieval and post-medieval coins as well as post-medieval jettons and a coin weight from the Low Countries; a Middle Bronze Age palstave; a possible Iron Age ring; a Roman brooch, stud, pin and pottery; a Roman/Early Saxon openwork strap-end; a Middle Saxon pin; a Middle Saxon/Late Saxon strap or harness fitting and hooked tag; a Late Saxon Scandinavian trefoil brooch; a medieval belt fitting, padlock fragment and seal matrix and a post-medieval harness or belt mount, knife end-stop, spur, buckle frame, crotal bells and fragments of a copper alloy vessel.

1993. Metal-detecting by source [1].
Medieval bronze ring (buckle or brooch) very crudely finished.
Possible late medieval lead disc with relief cross on one face. Rather crude, maybe associated with burial.
Early post-medieval bronze double looped buckle, decorated frame.
Odd lead cloth seal, might be quite late. Incised figures on it, Z4 and Y4 but also deeply stamped D-GO and N(S).
Post-medieval double looped buckle, moulded decoration plus attachment plate.
Post-medieval shoe buckle.

Pair of unused lead cloth seals (each in two parts) - 1st has shield of arms with chevron, shank on reverse; 2nd is quartered shield (second part of this one is pierced to take 'loop' on first part).
Early post-medieval gilt bronze double looped buckle fragment decorated with punched amulets, pin looped around bar.

Medieval discoidal stud and thick shank, possibly from vessel, handle perhaps.
Medieval harness or belt mount, discoidal terminals and a central bar. Radiating lines on terminals stamped and annulets.
Early post-medieval harness conical boss, spike on reverse.
Early post-medieval harness mount, foliate shaped.
Early post-medieval spur rowel 'box' and moulded decoration.

Ten lead weights (probably stack) found in a circle, about 1m apart.
Post-medieval bronze spoon bowl?
9th century imported Borre style convex disc brooch, Viking (three animal heads). H-shaped lug (broken) and broken catch plate, and loop at bottom edge of pendant (edges damaged).
Medieval, rectangular hasp swivel. Bronze vessel rim, bronze vessel rivet (large), decorated spur rowel terminal.
Post-medieval, 16th century buckle, tailor's thimble.
Undated bronze waste.
