Name:Site of medieval settlement and multi-period finds

Summary

This was the site of a common edge settlement during the medieval period, and a house is first mentioned on the site in 1361. Fieldwalking between 1986 and 1993 recovered prehistoric flints and pottery dating from the Iron Age to the post medieval periods. Metal-detecting in 2019 recovered a Neolithic/Bronze Age retouched flake and scraper; Iron Age, Roman, medieval and post-medieval pottery sherds; Roman and medieval coins, and post-medieval jettons; aswell as medieval to post-medieval metal objects. The metal finds include medieval horseshoes; a medieval/post-medieval copper alloy rivet and knife shoulder bolster; and post-medieval buckles.

3 April 1986. Fieldwalked when Fransham project being done adjacent, very rapidly, no concentrations.
Roman greywares and Samian base but no sign of source of Roman material in adjacent field Little Fransham 19 (23087).
Medieval sherds including Grimston.
Post medieval sherds.
Flints.
