Summary

The cropmarks of a ring ditch, probably the remains of a Bronze Age barrow, are visible on aerial photographs bisected by the Norfolk and Suffolk county border to the south of Hopton Manor. This possible round barrow is located within a barrow cemetery, see NHER 43527 for details.

Full description

2 July 1996. NLA air photography.
Cropmark of ring ditch identified (bisected by county border line).
Cropmarks of old field boundaries also visible. These are probably medieval to post medieval in date.
Also negative cropmarks caused by recently removed farm buildings/sheds can be seen.

The central grid reference of this site has been altered from TM 5214 9957 to TM 5211 9959.
The field boundaries formerly recorded under this number are now under NHER 45165.

The cropmarks of a ring ditch, probably the remains of a Bronze Age barrow, are visible on aerial photographs bisected by the Norfolk and Suffolk county border to the south of Hopton Manor (S1). The ring ditch is centred on TM 5211 9959. This possible round barrow is located within a barrow cemetery, see NHER 43527 for details.

The ring ditch is slightly sub-circular and measures 28.5m by 26m. The ditch is up to 2m wide.
