Summary

Extensive metal-detecting at this site between 1994 and 2016 has recovered prehistoric flint flakes and a range of metal objects dating from the Iron Age to the post-medieval period. Highlights include a Roman nail cleaner or ear scoop, Early Saxon brooches, a Late Saxon disc brooch and a 12th century horse harness pendant. The whole assemblage is part of a larger Roman to Late Saxon settlement, and Early Saxon cemetery complex encompassing NHER 3565, NHER 11743, NHER11816, NHER 25765, NHER 30690 and NHER 31073.
