Summary

Extensive metal detecting at this site during the period 1991-2004 recovered a diverse range of multi-period metal objects and coins. Finds of note comprised an Iron Age Iceni coin, a Roman bronze finger ring, a medieval enamelled half-figure of a saint from a Limoges shrine/casket, a medieval lead animal head and a Middle Saxon strap end animal head which consisted of two chevrons.

Iceni base stater.
Six 3rd/4th century coins.

Roman bronze finger ring, with deep oval setting in bezel and moulded triangular decoration on shoulders.
Roman lead steelyard weight, integral loop broken.
13th century half-round enamelled half-figure of saint from a Limoges shrine or casket. Two holes for attachment. Traces of blue enamel. Glass inset eyes!
Medieval L-shaped binding from corner of box-lid, with a small plate attached by two rivets in the centre of the plate, two projecting half-round bosses between which swivels a spherical terminal of a pendant or handle.

?Medieval lead lozenge-shaped plate with stamp cross-hatching on one face and X scratched on other ?function.
?Medieval lead lentoid-shaped weight with hole for suspension.

Medieval strap end plate, decorated with circle and five holes round edge and central hole. Single rivet.
Medieval lead animal head, modelled ears and muzzle with protruding eyes. Transverse hole in jaws. Socketed 'body' broken. ?What is it??
?Medieval lead oval disc, slightly convex, with lightly incised geometric motifs on each face ?dooble perhaps.

1996. Metal detector finds.
Middle Saxon strap end animal head consisting of two chevrons. Central plain zone between transverse moulding. Narrow fan-shaped field outlined by groove within nicked edge and containing two squarish ring-and-dots. Two rivets (one loose) in split end. Polaroid in file.
Two Roman coins.
One medieval penny.
