1998. Geophysical Survey and Excavation by Time Team.
The geophysical survey, over an area of approximately 6.5ha, located pits, ditches, industrial activity, hearths, kilns/furnaces and enclosures. Many of the key elements of the interpretation were tested by excavation during the three days of the Time Team programme and were proved to be correct. The area to the east and south of the church was found to be particularly rich in features, perhaps suggesting areas of industrial activity next to a former shoreline.

The excavation also recovered a small number of prehistoric worked flints, including:
3 undatable prehistoric end scrapers, 1 denticulate, 2 retouched flakes, 19 flakes, 2 spalls and 3 thermal/shatter fragments
1 Mesolithic blade.
