Record Details

NHER Number:7533
Type of record:Monument
Name:Roman bronze hoard

Summary

In the mid 1840s a hoard of Roman bronze objects were found in a sand hill near Felmingham Hall. The sand hill has been called a barrow, although it is more likely that it was a natural feature. The objects included a bust, figurines, brooches and coins and were probably buried as a ritual or religious offering. The hoard was found in a Roman pot and Roman pottery has been found on the surface.
