Name:Possible Roman building

Summary

Foundations of a building were ploughed up here in 1940. Pieces of Roman pottery and tile found nearby suggests this may be a Roman building. Fragments of Iron Age, Saxon, medieval and post-medieval pottery were also found. Metal detecting has recovered Roman and post medieval objects including Roman coins, a brooch and a key.

Full description

June 1949. Found during ploughing. Church Farm.
Foundations of buildings, presumably Roman, extending for around 9m (30 feet).
