Summary

A watching brief was carried out on this site by the Norfolk Archaeological Unit in 2002, and although no archaeological features were found, Roman coins, pottery, bricks and tile were found, which may indicate that the Roman activity on a nearby site, see NHER 32791, extended onto this site.

Full description

November 2002. Watching Brief.
Monitoring of foundation trenches. Contexts 1 to 21 used.

The presence of residual Romano-British finds in the topsoil indicated that the activity recorded at Creake Road (NHER 32791) did possibly extend to the northwest, into the area monitored during this watching brief.
See report (S1) for further details. The results of this work are also summarised in (S2).
The associated archive has been deposited with the Norwich Castle Museum (NWHCM : 2016.146).
