Summary

Fieldwalking in 2000 and metal-detecting in 2002 recovered a Palaeolithic flint handaxe; Early Neolithic, Neolithic, Late Neolithic/Early Bronze Age and undatable prehistoric worked flints; Iron Age, Roman, medieval, medieval/post-medieval and post-medieval pottery sherds; undatable iron slag; Roman, medieval and post-medieval coins; a medieval jetton; post-medieval tokens and Roman to post-medieval and undatable metal objects. The metal finds include a Roman copper alloy bracelet and brooch; medieval to post-medieval dress accessories; a medieval horse-harness pendant and lead figurine of Christ; medieval/post-medieval knife terminals, purse bars and casket mount and post-medieval coin weights, signet ring and furniture fitting.

Early 2000. Fieldwalking.
Found in two areas during field walking in large field, now divided by hedge.
Undatable Prehistoric, Neolithic, Early Bronze Age worked flints.
Iron Age, Roman, medieval, post medieval sherds.

August 2002. Metal-detecting.
Discovery Tours metal-detecting (Field 4):
1 Lower Palaeolithic pointed ovate flint handaxe. See drawing (S1).
2 Roman coins, 1 copper alloy bracelet and 1 brooch.
5 medieval coins, 1 jetton, 1 horse-harness pendant, 2 buckles, 1 bar (possibly from barrel padlock), 3 belt mounts, 1 brooch, 2 strap ends and 1 lead alloy cast figurine (almost certainly Christ).
1 ?medieval copper alloy ring.
2 medieval/post-medieval belt mounts, 3 copper alloy knife terminals, 2 purse bars and 1 casket mount.
14 post medieval coins, 4 post medieval tokens, 1 copper alloy signet ring, 3 buckles, 1 button, 2 coin weights, 1 mount and 1 furniture escutcheon or catch.
1 undatable mount, 1 strip, 1 bar and 1 unidentified object.
